Gorbachevo ( Belor. Garbacheva ) is a village in the Rossonsky district of the Vitebsk region of Belarus , the center of the Gorbachev village council . The population of 287 people (2009) [1] .

Geography
The village is located 15 km north-east of the village of Rasony , 7 km to the north is the border with Russia. Gorbachevo stands on the northern shore of Lake Neshcherdo . The P132 road passes through the village on the Rossony section - the border with Russia.
History
As a result of the first division of the Commonwealth (1772), Gorbachevo became part of the Russian Empire, in the Polotsk district of the Vitebsk province . In 1800, the Jesuits built the St. Joseph's Church here, in 1877 a new Catholic church was erected on the site of the old church building [2] . In 1897, the Orthodox Borisoglebskaya church was also built here.
In 1924, Gorbachevo became part of the BSSR , where it became the center of the village council. In Soviet times, both churches, both Catholic and Orthodox, were destroyed.
