Biography

Leonid G. Gavrilov was born in 1918 in the village of Berdyzh in the Chechersky volost of the Rogachev district of the Mogilev province (now the Leninsky village council of the Chechersky district of the Gomel region ). He lived in Gomel. In July 1940 he was called up for military service in the Soviet Army, he met the war in tank troops with the rank of sergeant. Communication with him was interrupted immediately after the start of World War II [2] . Most likely, Leonid Gavrilov died in one of the border battles [3] [4] [5] .

Leonid Gavrilov is called one of the representatives of a new generation of pre-war Belarusian poets, which also included Ales Zhavruk , Andrei Ushakov , V. Kravchenko, , Edi Ognetsvet , Anatol Astreiko , Ivan Gramovich, Ales Bachilo , Grigory Bereozkin, Grigory Nekhay , Konstantin Kiriyenko, Nikolai Avramchik [6] . His poems were characterized as imperfect - he died early, the poet did not manage to achieve the proper level of mastery of the word - but very truthful, despite the outward schematization of human feelings and the fit "for production". This sincerity came from the integrity of Gavrilov, in which he looked like his peer and fellow pen and fate Alexei Korshak [7] . The poet’s subtle observation, love for the Belarusian nature, praise of the joy of work and faith in the bright and pure feelings of people are noted [3] . It is mentioned that during the war one of the tank brigades chose verses by Leonid Gavrilov as a combat song [8] .

After the war, the poems of Leonid Gavrilov were collected by his friend, the Belarusian poet Konstantin Kiriyenko, and published in the posthumous collection “Fidelity” ( Belorussian “Vernast” ). He became the only published poetry poetry collection [3] [8] [9] .

Memory

From 1985 to 1993, a museum was opened in school No. 150 of the city of Minsk, dedicated to Belarusian writers and poets who died during the Great Patriotic War. One of the museum stands was dedicated to Leonid Gavrilov [10] . Currently, the materials posted on it are transferred to the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art [11] .
