Here is located one of the most famous salt mines in Russia, where the cleanest and most transparent salt crystals are mined. Rock salt is crushed by combines and transported to the surface for processing. The extraction method is fundamentally different from the other when the salt is extracted by evaporation. The length of the workings is several tens of kilometers. The depth of the mine is more than 400 m.

Geography

The village is located on the left bank of the Unga River above the confluence of the Tyret River, 21 km north-west of the regional center, the village of Zalari , 3 km west of the Sibir federal highway.

History

According to M.N. Melkheev , the name Tyret comes from the Buryat clan terte , which came here in the 17th century from the Tunkinsky valley , where Buryats of this clan of Mongolian origin also live - they came to Tunka from Khalkha in the 16th century.

In 1950 and 1956, oil explorers working in the vicinity of the village of Tyret raised core samples of pure rock salt from a half-kilometer depth. In the early 1960s, Vostsibneftegeologiya Trust discovered 10 salt formations with a thickness of 1.6 to 16.4 meters. The composition of the detected salt is NaCl without any chemical impurities. The USSR State Commission for Reserves recognized the fifth, seventh and eighth layers as industrial: salt in them is about 1.5 billion tons. With a production of 2 million tons per year, this is enough for at least 700 years.

In 1968, the USSR Ministry of Food Industry approved the design assignment for the construction of the Tyret salt mine, and on March 19, 1969, the USSR Council of Ministers issued a corresponding resolution. The construction of the salt mine began on July 4, 1969. The laying of the main and auxiliary shafts of the mine began in 1976. The builders faced serious hydrogeological difficulties - the soil had to be frozen so that the mine would not be flooded. By 1982, the construction of the auxiliary trunk was completed with a depth of 565 meters, and by 1985, the main trunk, with a depth of 621 meters. (For comparison: the height of the Ostankino television tower is 540 meters). The most powerful, 5th layer, 16 meters thick, was opened.

In March 1993, as a result of an oil spill after an accident at the Omsk - Angarsk trunk pipeline , groundwater in the village became practically unsuitable for drinking, although previously the water was poor due to its high hardness and high iron content. Now the water is brought to the village from the Oka River and then carried home by bucket. The “ Tagna - Tyret - Zalari ” water conduit is called to solve the problem - its construction has been planned for a long time, but has not yet begun.
