Pyotr Valeryanovich Yakhontov (1908-1972) - one of the organizers and leaders of the partisan movement during the Great Patriotic War in the territory of the Mogilev region.

Biography
P.V. Yakhontov was born in 1908 in the village of Budakovo, Danilovsky District, Yaroslavl Region .
Since 1925 in the Red Army. In 1940 he graduated from the Frunze Military Academy . From the first days of the war he was appointed chief of staff of the 36th cavalry division [1] .
In fierce defensive battles near Borisov, Petr Valeryanovich was wounded and was in the hospital.
To save the wounded Red Army soldiers who were threatened with death, on the initiative of the head of the Borisov medical railway section P.N. Wustin was established an impromptu hospital in a former maternity hospital where the wounded were relocated. Among those saved was P.V. Yakhontov. With the help of nurses, he got fictitious documents and remained in the occupied city.
Already in September 1941, Petr Valeryanovich joined the ranks of the Borisov anti-fascist underground. A year later P.V. Yakhontov left the city for the forest in a partisan detachment. From September 1942 to October 1943 he was the commander of the Klichev Operational Center, at the same time the commander of the 208th partisan detachment, and since November 1942 - the commander of the 1st Klichev partisan brigade.
In April - August 1943, Petr Valeryanovich became the commander of the Military Operational Group under the Mogilev underground regional committee of the Communist Party (B) B, which he led until joining the Red Army, in whose ranks he served for another 10 years after the war.
He lived in Leningrad, taught at the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze [2] .
July 26, 1972 Petr Valeryanovich Yakhontov passed away.
