Biography

Born in 1913 in the village of Olyanino, now Kamensky district, Cherkasy region of Ukraine.

In 1933 he arrived in the village of Krasnodon in the Luhansk region of the Ukrainian SSR. He worked at mine No. 5 as a gas meter, a horse-drawn driver, and then became a student of the slayer of mine No. 18a.

In 1941, drafted into the Red Army. Member of World War II. He served in the headquarters of the 395th ("mining") infantry division of the Southern Front, a Red Army man.

Since February 1944 - again in the Red Army. In April 1945, he was a sapper of the 71st separate guard engineer battalion of the 62nd Guards Rifle Division of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, a private guard. He was awarded the Order of the Red Star and the medal "For Military Merit".

Demobilized from the Red Army, he returned to his native mine, which was soon restored and began to give coal again. He became the foreman of the miners of the mine administration number 18-20 of the trust "Krasnodonugol". The brigade went to the forefront at the mine, in the area, and even in the area. She carried out the plan by 140-150%. His team daily gave over the task of 15 tons of coal.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 26, 1957, for outstanding achievements in the development of the coal industry during the fifth five-year plan and in 1956, Vasily Alekseevich Drizhenko was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Hammer and Sickle Hammer.

Subsequently retired. He died in 1980. He was buried in Krasnodon. He was elected as a deputy of the district Council of People’s Deputies.
