Gunter, Sigmund

Content

Biography and Research

Born in the family of a Bavarian merchant. From 1865, he attended lectures at five universities in Germany ( University of Erlangen, University of Heidelberg, University of Leipzig, University of Berlin, University of Göttingen ). In 1870 he took part in the Franco-Prussian war as a volunteer.

In 1872 he graduated, taught at the school for some time, then (1873) defended his thesis and was accepted as a teacher at the Munich Polytechnic . In 1876 he moved to Ansbach , where he taught mathematics and physics, a few years later returned to Munich, where he was a professor of geography until his retirement in 1920. As a teacher earned the highest marks.

From 1878 to 1884 he was a member of the Reichstag from the liberal German progressive party .
