Located in the southwestern part of Cherdyn district , between the rivers Kama and Timshor , in the center of the Wild swamp. The absolute mark of the water's edge is 130.2 m. The area of ​​the reservoir is 17.8 km² [2] , which makes it the second largest lake in the Perm Territory (after Lake Chusovoy ). It stretches for about 7 km in length and 5 km in width. The average depth of the lake is 3.5 m; The maximum depth is 6 m. The banks are marshy.

From the southeastern part of the reservoir flows the channel into the lake Chelvinskoe , which is located approximately 700 m to the southeast. 5 km to the east is the lake Novozhilovo with an area of ​​7.12 km². 20 km to the northeast of the Big Kumikush lake is the village Chepets .

Perch , pike and ruff are found in the lake . It is home to ducks , geese and loons , and beavers migrated here from Timshor [3] .
