Asorda ( port. Açorda ) - a dish of Portuguese cuisine , which is a soup based on bread with various additives. Asorda does not have a strictly defined composition. This dish is popular throughout the country and may include various ingredients depending on the region. The most common variant is asorda a alentejan ( port. Açorda à alentejana ), characteristic of Alentejo . Its basic ingredients are finely chopped bread, garlic, olive oil, salt and various herbs (most often cilantro ), which are mixed and crushed, added to bread, and then poured with boiling water, after which the dish is infused for a while. For example, poached eggs , shrimp or cod can also be added to the asorda, and in some cases broth can be used instead of water.
