Biography
Born May 12, 1920 in Tomsk [2] (according to other sources in Leningrad [3] ) in the family of geologist Vladimir Klimentevich Kotulsky [4] . Since 1921 he lived with his family in Leningrad [2] .
In childhood, he showed an extraordinary creative talent and studied at the " Children's University ", created at the initiative of S. M. Kirov for literally gifted children [5] .
The first published poem - “Svirskaya hydroelectric power station” (1930, in the newspaper “Svirstroy”). Then two poems and the poem "Khibiny" were published. The last lifetime publication of Alexander Kotulsky dates from 1936: eight poems and “Khibiny” were included in the collection “Poems of children” [6] .
Since 1930, in connection with expeditions and the work of his father, geologists and geology have become one of the frequent themes of poems.
S. Ya. Marshak , who knew the young poet closely, later wrote that he “could become both a brilliant geologist and a prominent poet, and also noted in his poems“ a deep, touching love for Leningrad ” [3] .
Since the beginning of World War II, he fought on the Leningrad Front .
September 24, 1941 he died of wounds in the hospital 111 of the motorized security forces 10 sd. He was buried in the cemetery of Peterhof station [1] .
Memory
After the war, his poems were repeatedly included in poetry collections. V.K. Kotulsky intended to organize a separate edition of his son’s book, but the publication did not take place due to his arrest [2] .
In 1964, they were published in the book “Day of Poetry” with a preface by Samuel Marshak [3] , and in 2005 in the collection “Soviet poets who fell in the Great Patriotic War” [5] .
