2014 World Mixed Pair Curling Championship

The 2014 World Mixed Pair Curling Championship was held in Dumfries ( Scotland ) from April 23 to April 30, 2014 [1] . The tournament was held for the 7th time. [2]

The tournament was attended by 34 national teams of mixed teams (made up of one man and one woman).

The champion was (the 5th time in its history) the Swiss team , which won the Swedish team in the final. Bronze medals were won by the Spanish national team , which won the match for the 3rd place to the Hungarian national team . [3]

For the first time, teams from Belarus , Brazil and Kazakhstan took part in the championship.

Content

Event Format

Teams are divided into 4 groups (A, B, C, D) of 9 teams (in groups C and D - 8 teams each), where they play each other in a circular system in one circle. Those who took 1st place in the groups go directly to the quarter - finals of the playoffs . The remaining eight teams enter the qualifying round, the winners of which go to the quarterfinals. The eight teams in the playoffs play the Olympic system in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, then the winners of the semi-finals in the finals play 1st and 2nd place, the losers in the semi-finals play 3rd and 4th places.
