Biography
He graduated from secondary school No. 11 in the city of Smela . He was a graduate of the School of Olympic Reserve in Kharkov , was engaged in the barbell. the last years he lived in Kiev, worked at a private enterprise as a storekeeper.
On Maidan
Together with work colleagues went to the Maidan.
February 18 was in the afternoon on the Maidan, and then returned home. Hearing on TV that they are trying to disperse the Maidan by force, he again went to the barricades.
He received three gunshot and pneumatic injuries in the back. The wounded Yuri was brought to a medical care center, equipped on the ground floor of the Trade Union House on Independence Square, but the building was set on fire. They tried to evacuate the wounded, among those whom they managed to remove from the burning building, there was Yuri - an ambulance transported him to the 18th Kiev hospital, but failed to save him [1] .
He was buried in his native village [1] .
There was a mother, four brothers and sisters, a wife and a 7-year-old son.
Memory
April 4, 2014 at secondary school No. 11, where Yuri studied, a memorial plaque was installed in his honor. The event was attended by the mother of the deceased. During the event, the meeting was addressed by the secretary of the city council Yaroslav Berezan, deputy mayor Alexander Golovchenko, representative of the People’s Council Viktor Peresunko and others [2] .
On September 10, 2015, a project was submitted to the Kiev City Council on renaming Ilyich Street in the Darnytskyi district of Kiev to Yuriy Pashkhalin Street [3] .
Rewards
- The title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Golden Star Order ( November 21, 2014 , posthumous) - for civic courage, patriotism, heroic upholding of the constitutional principles of democracy, human rights and freedoms, selfless service to the Ukrainian people, discovered during the Revolution of Dignity [4]
