Biography

Born in 1962 in Kolomyya.

On the Maidan

Bogdan Kaliniak spent almost two months on Maidan. He almost without sleep and rest helped the wounded, remained on night duty. Home Bogdan Kaliniak returned sick.

“When we first met on the Maidan, I was very surprised, because he was a very calm and balanced person, he never betrayed his emotions. As it turned out, he spent almost all two months on the Maidan, he traveled there four times for sure. As far as I know, during the clashes on the Grushevsky street, Bogdan earned pneumonia after watering the rally participants with ice water. So he fell ill, ”said the comrade of the deceased, the mayor of Kolomyya, Igor Slyuzar.

According to the friend of the deceased, Viktor Poznik, Kaliniak helped the Maidan with money and goods. “We lived in tents with activists from eastern Ukraine. One day we went out to walk around Kiev and brought nearly forty people to the Maidan. Bogdan was a very kind person, he kept everything to himself, couldn’t swear and never got sick. I can not even understand how he was gone, ”said his friend ^[1] .

Bogdan Kalinyak died on January 28, 2014 in the hospital.

The title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Golden Star Order ( November 21, 2014 , posthumously) for civil courage, patriotism, heroic upholding of the constitutional principles of democracy, human rights and freedoms, selfless service to the Ukrainian people, discovered during the Revolution of Dignity ^[2]
Medal "For Sacrifice and Love for Ukraine" ( UOC-KP , June 2015) (posthumously) ^[3]
