Koygorodok is an administrative-territorial unit (an administrative territory is a village with a territory subordinate to it) [3] and a municipal formation (a rural settlement with the full official name is a municipal formation of the rural settlement “Koygorodok” ) [4] as part of the Koygorodsky municipal district in the Komi Republic of the Russian Federation .

The status and boundaries of the administrative territory are established by the Law of the Republic of Komi dated March 6, 2006 No. 13-RZ “On the administrative-territorial structure of the Republic of Komi” [5] .
The status and boundaries of a rural settlement are established by the Law of the Republic of Komi dated March 5, 2005 No. 11-RZ “On the Territorial Organization of Local Self-Government in the Republic of Komi” [6] .
