Sartene-Valinko ( fr. Sartenais-Valinco ) - one of the 11 cantons of the department of South Corsica , Corsica region, France . INSEE canton code is 2A09. It is fully located in Sarten County in the south of Corsica. [2] . Canton was established in 2015. It was named after the natural areas of Corsica Sarten and Valinko. The total area of the canton is 652.48 km², the population is 11265 people.

History
According to the law of May 17, 2013 and the decree of February 14, 2014, the number of cantons in the department of South Corsica decreased from 22 to 11. The new territorial division of the departments into cantons entered into force during the 2015 elections. Thus, the canton of Sartene-Valinko was formed on March 22, 2015 [3] [4] . It was formed from the former canton of Tallano-Skopamene (12 communes), Olmeto (6 communes) and Sarten (7 communes) [5] .

The canton consists of 25 communes [2] , of which Propriano is the main commune. 13 communes of the canton are part of the Sartene-Valinko community (marked in green), 10 communes are in the Alta Rocca community (highlighted in red).

Policy
According to the law of May 17, 2013 [3], voters of each canton elect two members of the general council of a department of different sexes during the election. They are elected for 6 years by a majority of votes based on the results of one or two rounds of elections [7] .
In the first round of the cantonal elections on March 22, 2015, 2 pairs of candidates ran for Sarten-Valinko. With 81.36% support, Jose-Pierre Mozziconacci and Chantal Pedinelli were elected for 2015–2021. Jose-Pierre Mozziconacci was previously elected representative of the canton of Olmeto in 2011 as a non-partisan leftist candidate. Chantal Pedinelli represented the former canton of Tallano-Skopamene as a non-partisan right-wing candidate [5] . The turnout for the elections was 61.48% [8] .
