Biography

Mark Serebryansky was born in 1901 in Elizavetgrad (now Kirovohrad) of the Kherson province . After the October Revolution he was engaged in Komsomol activities. He joined the Red Army , fought in the Civil War [1] . In 1920 he joined the CPSU (b) [2] . From 1921 to 1923 he studied in Moscow at the Communist University named after Ya. M. Sverdlov . Since 1923 he worked in the bodies of party propaganda. Since 1925 - Head of the Agitation and Propaganda Department of the Lenin District Committee of the CPSU (B.) Rostov-on-Don [1] .

In his youth, he began to write poetry. The main subjects of his works are the October Revolution and the Civil War in Russia. His first collection of poems, "The Green Overcoat," was released in 1922. Serebryansky published his poems in Rostov newspapers and magazines. Since 1927 he became a literary critic [1] .

Serebryansky was an active employee of the RAAP leadership. In 1928 he entered the literary department of the Institute of the Red Professor , graduated in 1932. He taught a course of Soviet literature at several Moscow universities. Since 1939 - Head of the Soviet Literature Sector at the M. Gorky Institute of World Literature [1] .

Serebryansky gave a number of thoughtful substantial works, upholding the principles of the new art of the era of socialism. Carefully analyzing literary phenomena, Serebryansky gives theoretical conclusions both in generalizing articles and in articles about individual writers (about Artyom Vesel , “On Socialist Realism,” a brochure about Furmanov ) [2] .

After the start of World War II, he volunteered for the front. He was a correspondent for the army newspaper "For the Honor of the Motherland." He died in October 1941 [1] in the battles of Vyazma .
