History

The village arose in 1940. The name was given along the rivers Big Valai and Small Valai (to the left tributaries of the Birch). In 1957, the Valai timber industry enterprise was created here. The village was the center of the Valai village council (from December 16, 1966 to January 2006) and the center of the Valai village settlement (until June 2015) [2] .

Geographical position

It is located on the Birch River, about 52 km northeast of the center of the settlement, the village of Nyrob , and 100 km northeast of the district center, the city of Cherdyn . 13 km east of the village on the left bank of the river there is rock outcrop Eran , a landscape monument of nature of regional significance.
