Biography

Maria Elizabeth was born in the Wilting Palace in Warsaw on February 2, 1736. She was the daughter of the Elector of Saxony, Friedrich August II, who was also king of Poland under the name of August III , and the Archduchess Maria Joseph of Austria. The parents of the princess paid great attention to the upbringing and education of all their children. She was fluent in Latin, French and Polish (not counting her native German), she had extensive knowledge of philosophy, geography and theology, she drew well, played music and danced.

Mary Elizabeth was the tenth child in a family of fifteen children. Native sisters she had Maria Amalia of Saxony , in the marriage of the Queen of Spain, Maria Josepha of Saxony , in the marriage of the Dauphin of France, Maria Anna of Saxony , in a marriage kurfyurstina Bavaria, Maria Cunegonde Saxony , abbess in Thorn and Essen and Marie Christine of Saxony , abbess titular Remiremona. The brothers of the princess were Friedrich Christian, Elector of Saxony , Karl of Saxony, Duke of Courland and Albert of Saxony, Duke of Teschen .

Mary Elizabeth died in Dresden on December 24, 1818.
