Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm (Sweden) was represented by singer Sandya with the song “ Sing It Away ”. Sandya was selected at the national qualifying competition "Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu" (UMK), organized by the Finnish broadcasting company Yleisradio , on February 27, 2016 [4] .

National Final
According to the rules of the competition, at least one of the songwriters had to have Finnish citizenship or have real estate in Finland. From one performer could be represented only one song, which in this case would not participate in the national selection from other countries. Artist in May 2016 should have turned 16 years old.
In November 2015, it became known that the Finnish singer Krista Siegfrieds together with will conduct the Finnish national selection for Eurovision 2016 - Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu [5] [6] .
On January 12, 2016, 18 applicants for the right to represent Finland at Eurovision 2016 were announced. The final of the national competition, in which nine performers were held according to the results of the preliminary competitions, was held on February 27 and was shown on Yle TV2 [7] ; singer Sandya won the song with the song “ Sing It Away ” [3] [8] .
