Jayashi, Malik Muhammad ( Hindi मलिक मोहम्मद जायसी ), 1477 , Jais , Uttar Pradesh , India - 1542 , Ram Nagar , Uttar Pradesh, India - a medieval Indian mystic poet, a representative of Sufi poetry, who wrote in Avadhi , Eastern dialect Hindi Known poems "The Alphabet of Truth", "Judgment Day" and "Padmavat . " In particular, the poem “Padmavat”, written based on the historical plot, is characterized by the creative exploration of the motives and artistic means of the Hindu and Muslim literary tradition [1] .

Biography
Little is known about Jayashi’s life. For a long time the poet lived in the courtyards of the rulers of Gazipur and Bhojur. From an early age prone to exaltation , over the years he more and more departed from worldly vanity, indulging in thoughts about God and serving him. After his only son left this world, Jayashi seeks solace in his travels, becoming a dervish . The last years of his life he lived as a hermit in the forest, where, after his death, he was buried. His popularity as a poet and person was so great even during his lifetime that the stanzas from his works were sung as folk songs. [2] .
In the city of Jais, a monument to Jayashi is currently installed.
