Story
The Doctor, Romana, K-9, and Adrik, who has not yet been discovered, arrive on a feudal system ruled by Lords Zargo, Camilla and Econ, who annually conduct a selection ritual when young settlers are taken to the tower and no one else sees them. The process is led by guards under Hebris.
The doctor and Romana will find out that the planet is more advanced than in the Middle Ages, and they are going to find out what caused it to decline, and will soon fall into the secret base of scientists considered to be heretics. From them, they learn that the company was built by officers of the fallen ship Hydrax, looking exactly like lords. Meanwhile, Adrik comes to the village, where he is caught by Lord Econ, who considers him an alien who deserves to be "elected."
Soon the Doctor and Roman are caught by the Hebris squad and delivered to the tower, which turns out to be a ship from Earth, drawn into E-space. The doctor guesses that the lords are officers from the ship, and recalls that the Great Vampire escaped the rulers of time from escaping and escaped into E-space.
Meanwhile, the rebel Tarak takes the Doctor and Roman out of the tower. Romana and Tarak go to rescue Adrik, but accidentally wake Camille and Zargo, who kill Tarak. Roman is being prepared for the sacrifice to the Great Vampire, and Adrik to the transformation. In the TARDIS, the Doctor recalls that vampires can be killed with a large steel arrow in the heart. After scanning the tower, he finds the Great Vampire beneath it, and calls for the help of the villagers. During the ritual, making his way into the tower, he launches the ship-tower in the heart of the Great Vampire, who perishes, and the lords crumble to dust. Together with Romana and Adrik he departs, leaving the planet to develop further.
