Army, Yoel

Joel Armia ( Fin. Joel Armia ; born May 31, 1993, Pori , Finland ) is a Finnish professional hockey player who plays for the Montreal Canadiens club of the National Hockey League (NHL). He began his professional career in his native Finland, in the Eschat team of the Finnish Hockey League [1] . He was selected under the general 16th number in the 2011 NHL draft by the Buffalo Sabers club.

Game career

The army spent three years in Finland playing for the Essat . During this time, he achieved a result of 55 goals and 45 assists (100 points), having also received 120 minutes of a penalty. In the 2012–13 season, Armia scored 19 goals and 14 made assists in 47 games. He played a key role in the team winning the Canada-Malia Cup after the Pori team became fourth in the regular season. In the playoffs, Armia scored three goals with five assists in 16 games [2] .

On June 16, 2012, Armia signed a three-year rookie contract with Buffalo Sabers [3] . In the second season of performances in North American hockey, playing in the American Hockey League 's Buffalo Farm Club (AHL) - Rochester Americans , he was called up to the head team and on December 23, 2014 he made his NHL debut in the match against Detroit Red Wings " [4] . Later he was then returned to the AHL until February 11, 2015, when the Sabers were exchanged, along with Tyler Myers , Stafford Drew, Brendan Lemieux and the choice in the first round of the draft 2015 , to the Winnipeg Jets club instead of Evander Kane , Zack Bogosyan and goalkeeper Jason Cassdorf [5] .
