Thomas Teye Partey ( born June 13, 1993 ) is a Ghanaian footballer , a defensive midfielder for the Atletico Madrid club and the national team of Ghana .

Club career
Thomas was born in Odumas Krobo, Ghana, and is a graduate of the local Odometa FC. He signed a contract with Atletico Madrid in 2011 and was credited to the reserve team. On March 10, 2013, Thomas was called up for the match against the Real Sociedad club [2] , but did not appear on the field, and the team lost 0-1 [3] .
On July 12 of that year, Thomas was leased to Mallorca , which had recently landed in Segunda [4] . On August 18, he made his debut in a 0-4 match against Sabadell [5] . Thomas scored his first professional goal on September 15 in a draw (2: 2) game against Hercules [6] . In total that season, the player spent 37 matches (2972 minutes on the field) and scored 5 goals.
July 27, 2014 Thomas joined the club Examples “ Almeria ” on loan [7] . He made his debut for the new club on August 23 in a draw (1: 1) match against Espanyol [8] . Thomas scored his first goal in the Example on April 11, 2015 in a victory (3: 0) game against Granada [9] .
Thomas made his debut for Atlético Madrid on November 28, 2015, replacing Vietto in a home (1-0) victory against Espanyol [10] , and on January 2, 2016 scored his first goal for the club, bringing the team a home victory over Levante "With a score of 1: 0 [11] .
In 2018, Thomas Partey was recognized by the Ghanaian sports journalists as the best footballer of the year in the country [12] .
Team Career
In the summer of 2019, at the African Cup of Nations in Egypt , Thomas was called up to his national team . In the third match, he scored a goal against Guinea-Bissau , and the team won 2-0.
