Zen cafe

Zen Café is a Finnish rock band originating in Turku in 1992. The name of the group was based on the title of the book Zen and the Art of Caring for a Motorcycle by Robert Pirsig at the suggestion of the bass player Kari Nyulander . Other initial members of the group were Samuli Putro (vocalist, guitarist), Mikko Oesh (guitarist, vocalist) and Tuomo Myakipavola (drummer). Oseth soon left the group, as did Mjakipaavola, who was replaced by Pete Parkkonen in place of the drummer, which even happened before the release of the band’s first disc. By the way, it is a very interesting fact that the homeland of all the original members of the group is the city of Raahe . Lyrics of the group are composed by Samuli Putro, but always the whole group, in full force, takes part in compiling the composition of the songs themselves.

At first, their songs were played mainly on the radio and did not have a wide audience, and the discs were not sold. Success to the group came only after the release in 1999 of a new album, called Ua ua . It was from him that the group gained its wide popularity, becoming one of the most recognizable in Finland. The songs “Todella kaunis”, “Harri”, “Aamuisin”, “Mies jonka ympäriltä tuolit viedään”, “Tavallaan jokainen on surullinen” and “Piha ilman sadettajaa” became especially famous.

Their seventh and final Stop album was released on September 13, 2006, preceding the large-scale advertising campaign of the group itself, including Finland’s largest social network IRC-Galleria . The first single from the disc was called "Rakastele mua".

In 2008, Zen Cafe members announced on their personal website that they want to take a year off from touring and releasing new albums. The pause continues, and it is very obvious, or simply possible, that the group will no longer resume its activities at all, however, it has not yet officially disbanded.
