Biography and career

John Scott was born in Edmonton , but raised in St. Catharines , Ontario . Like many other Canadians, he played hockey since childhood, rooting for the Boston Bruins and Ray Bourke personally. In his youth, Scott did not show much hope: thanks to his dimensions, he acted as a defender of the defensive plan, but he lacked speed significantly, as a result of which the player was not included in the best junior teams and was not selected in the 2001 draft . However, over time, Scott managed to improve his skating so much that he received an athlete scholarship to study at the University of Michigan . John took his studies seriously, because having received an education, he did not plan to connect his career with professional sports. However, having spent 126 matches in four years of playing for the Michigan Tech Haskiz, gaining 19 points and 347 minutes of the penalty time, he received an invitation to the American Hockey League club Houston Aeros . The bride gave John three years to become a professional hockey player [1] , but after 20 games he signed a bilateral contract with the Minnesota Wild [2] . According to the recollections of the player himself, it was in the AHL that he began to regularly fight on ice, and one of his first opponents in the battle was an experienced fighter, DJ King.

During the first season, he signed a rookie contract with the NHL club Minnesota Wild . [3] In the 2008/09 season, he scored the first goal in the NHL, namely November 15, 2009 against Carolina Hurricanes [4] .

January 2, 2016 became the winner of the vote for the captain of the NHL Stars 2016 , Scott will represent the Pacific Division [5] .

On January 15, 2016, he was exchanged for the Montreal Canadiens club [6] , which jeopardized his participation in the NHL All-Star Game because this club is in a different division [7] . On January 19 of the same year, the league announced that Scott would still take part in the match and remain captain of the Pacific Division despite the exchange. [eight]

At the All-Star Game, MVP was recognized, marked with two goals, and his team won the mini-tournament [9] . Immediately after the end of the match, the player’s agent received a request to sell the rights to the adaptation of the story of Scott getting into the All-Star Game [10] . John spent the rest of the season in the AHL, but he was called up to Montreal for the last regular season match, and head coach Michel Terrien fired the player in the starting five against the legendary striker Jaromir Jagr . After the game, Scott said that he had not yet decided to continue his career [11] , but, having not received a proposal for a new contract, in early November announced his retirement [12] .

Out of Ice

In 2006, John Scott received a degree in mechanical engineering , graduating from the University of Michigan . Since 2008, he is married to his classmate Daniel, she is currently engaged in the design of children's clothing [13] . The spouses have four daughters: Eva Scott (born December 24, 2011), Gabriella Rosalie Scott (born December 13, 2013) and the twins Estelle Vera Scott and Sofia Leland Scott (born 05.02.2016) [14] .
