Marriages and Descendants

The first time Magdalena married Philip Ludwig I of Hanau-Münzenberg on February 2 or 6, 1576. Perhaps her fiance sought through this marriage to get away from the political influence of her guardian, Count Johann VI of Nassau-Dillenburg . The marriage was concluded despite the resistance of the Nassau guardian, who would have preferred that Philip Ludwig choose a bride from his clan. The counts of Waldeck were close to the Landgrafism of Hesse and the Mainz Archbishopric . In a marriage with Philip Ludwig were born:

  • Albrecht (1579-1635)

The first husband of Magdalena suddenly died on February 4, 1580. On November 24, 1581, Magdalena married a second time to Count Johann VII of Nassau-Siegen . In this marriage were born:

  • Elizabeth (1584–1661) - married to Count Christian Waldeck-Vindungen, had many descendants.
  • Adolf (1586-1608) - Count of Nassau-Siegen, died at 22 years old.
  • Juliana (1587-1643) - married to the Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel Moritz , had 14 children.
