1950 Swiss Grand Prix

Swiss Grand Prix of 1950 - the fourth test race of the season in the Formula 1 car class. Competitions were held from June 2 to 4 on the Bremgarten highway. Like the other races of the season, it was held under the domination of Alfa Romeo pilots, while the racers of the Ferrari factory team, with all the efforts to impose a struggle, failed. The victory, as in the first stage of the season, went to Farina, Fagioli became the second, and Rosier came in third, thereby justifying his invitation to the Talbo-Lago factory team. Fangio was a long leader, then confidently held in the leading group, but came down due to a motor failure.

Grand Prix

At this stage, the struggle between the factory teams Alfa Romeo ( Farina , Fangio and Fagioli ) and Ferrari ( Askari , Vilorezi , Sommer ) continued . The fourth Ferrari was put up privately for Peter Whitehead. The Talbo-Lago factory team, in addition to the first stage speakers Giro-Cabantou and Marten, also invited private trader Louis Rosier, who had previously played for his own team on a less modern car of the same manufacturer. The composition was also preserved by the Maserati factory team and the private Enrico Plate, but Gordini decided not to participate. Finally, the private team, Scuderia Milano, made it to the competition with a modified Maserati 4CLT / 50 for Bonetto. Parnell invited Scuderia Ambrosiana, and instead of Gonzalez, injured in Monaco, for the Scuderia Achille Varzi, they invited the famous motorcycle racer Nello Pagani to one race.

Race

In the first laps, Askari intervened in the fight Alfa Romeo, but quickly fell behind. Fangio and Farina fought among themselves, while Fagioli slowly lagged behind. Soon Askari and Villorezi came down, and Bira climbed into fourth place. He did not stay there long, having refueled and releasing Etanselen to fourth place. Further, Eugene Marten got into a serious accident, having received injuries while forcing him to leave the race for a long time. Even later, Etanselen came down due to a gearbox failure and Rozier, invited to the Talbo-Lago factory team, came out in fourth place. On the 33rd lap due to problems with the engine Fangio came down, and the fourth place Rosier turned into the third. Farina, along with Fangio a decent margin from Fagioli and everyone else, after the departure of the Argentine easily defeated.
