Pyrococcus woesei (lat.) - ultra- thermophilic anaerobic marine archaea . It is a sulfate reducer that grows at a temperature optimum of 100 to 103 ° C. The cells are approximately spherical in shape, slightly elongated and narrowed, similar in shape to Thermococcus celer cells. Often stick together in two. They grow on a solid substrate, at one of the poles of each cell are dense bundles of flagella or pili [1] . Thermostable Pwo- polymerase was isolated from this organism, which is used for some types of PCR [2] .

Kanoxylapatam and colleagues believe that P. woesei is a subspecies of P. furiosus [3] .
