Cotopaxi ( Spanish: Parque nacional Cotopaxi ) is a national park in Ecuador . Administratively located in the provinces of Cotopaxi , Napo and Pichincha . The area of the park is 333.93 km² [2] . It was founded on August 11, 1975.

The park is located about 45 km south of the capital, Quito . The park has the highest active volcano in Ecuador - Cotopaxi , which gave it a name, as well as two other volcanoes: Ruminavi (inactive) and Sincolagua (last eruption recorded in 1877). The height of the national park varies from 3399 to 5897 m above sea level.
