He was born on January 26, 1946 in the city of Cheremkhovo, Irkutsk Region, and from childhood he lived in Moscow with his family. He received his primary musical education at the Moscow Military Musical School of Suvorov in the class of baritone-trombone (1957-1964). In 1965-1969 he studied at the military conducting faculty of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory in the class of Professor B. A. Diev . He continued his service as a military conductor in the city of Slavuta (Ukraine). By competition, he took the position of conductor in the orchestra of the headquarters of the Carpathian military district (Lviv). In 1970, he led this team at the All-Army Competition of Staff Orchestras of the USSR Armed Forces. From 1975 to 1981 - head of the orchestra of the headquarters of the Southern Group of Forces (Hungary, Budapest). Since 1985, director and chief conductor of the First Separate Demonstration Orchestra of the USSR Ministry of Defense .

In 1987 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.

After his dismissal in 1994, he headed the orchestra of the New Izmailovsky Center (Prince Kornienko’s orchestra) to the reserve. Since 2005, the main conductor of the Moscow Brass Band named after N. M. Mikhailov.

The orchestra consists of teachers from the wind and percussion department of the Gnesins Moscow Children's Music School. In 1987 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Russia. Professor of the military conducting department of the military institute of military conductors. He has toured the USSR for 30 years in the countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and the USA. He collaborated with prominent Russian musicians, including Arthur Eisen, Vladimir Matorin, Zurab Sotkilava, Alexander Voroshilo, Lyubov Kazarnovskaya, Irina Rubtsova Timofey Dokshitser, Margarita Shaposhnikova, Ivan Olenchik, as well as pop artists Joseph Kobzon, Evgeny Martynov, Alexander Malinin, Vladis, etc. Has a lot of records on the Central radio and television, more than 20 albums (LP and CD)
