Donnhad (Donow) O'Brien (d. April 1, 1553 ) - 2nd Earl of Thomond (1551-1553), the eldest son of Konkhobar poppy Toyrdelbaig O'Brien (d. 1539), King Tomond (1528-1539).

Biography
The eldest son of the penultimate king Tomond Conkhobar (Connor) poppy Toyrdelbaig O'Brien (1528-1539). His mother was Annabelle de Burke, the youngest daughter of the evidence de Burke (Red) from Clanricard.
In 1539, after the death of Connor O'Brien, King Tomond, his eldest son Donnhad (Donow) was still a minor. Therefore, his uncle Murrow O'Brien (d. 1551 ), who became the head of the O'Brien clan, was elected the new king of Tomond. Uncle Murrow and Donow's nephew, who challenged each other’s royal title, turned to the English king Henry VIII Tudor for support. On July 1, 1543, Murrow and Donow O'Brien took a vassal oath of allegiance to the English crown. The English king Heinrich Tudor granted Murrow O'Brien the titles of Count Tomond and Baron Inchuin, and his nephew Donow (Donnhad) received the title of Baron Ibrakan and the right to inherit the count title after the death of his uncle Murrow.
In November 1551, after the death of his uncle Murrow O'Brien, Donow O'Brien received the title of 2nd Earl of Thomond.
On April 1, 1553, Donow O'Brien passed away after his brothers attacked the family residence Ennis . Donow's younger brother, Donald O'Brien, was proclaimed king of Thomond by the Dal Kays clan, and Connor O'Brien, Donow's eldest son, entered into an alliance with the British and regained control of his lands.
Family and Children
Donow (Donnhad) O'Brien was married to Helen Butler (1523-1597), daughter of Pierce Butler, 8th Earl of Ormond (c. 1467-1539), and Lady Margaret Fitzgerald (c. 1473-1542). Their kids:
- Margaret O'Brien (d. 1568), wife of Dermod O'Brien, 2nd Baron Inchuquin (d. 1557), and Richard de Burke, 2nd Earl of Clanricard (d. 1582)
- Connor O'Brien (c. 1535-1581), 3rd Earl of Thomond (1553-1581)
- Sir Donal O'Brien (d. 1579)
- Honor O'Brien (d. 1579), 1st husband - Teig McNamara, 2nd husband - Donow O'Brien
Donow O'Brien also had an illegitimate daughter, Mary O'Brien, the wife of Theobald Burke, the son of William Burke, 1st Baron Burke of Connell, and Catherine Fitzgerald.
