Biography
The samples came from the Roman colony of Berith . For a long time he was in military service, seeking the title of centurion, but then resigned and went into literature.
Sample corrected and commented on a number of manuscripts by Latin authors, including Lucretius , Virgil, and Horace . True, it is impossible to say how much his work was reflected in texts that reached us [2] [K 1] .
In addition, Prob published a number of philological works “on small private issues” and compiled “an excellent collection of observations on the speech of the ancients” [4] .
Comments
- ↑ The newest researcher Carlo Lucarini cites, however, strong evidence of Valery Proba's significant role in conveying the text of Plaut's comedies, and, leaning towards a different opinion, this thesis nevertheless takes into account [3] .
