Biography

Born in a peasant family in the village of Kazinka, Aleksandrovsky district, Stavropol province (currently the Andropovsky district of the Stavropol Territory ). In 1926 he graduated from the 4th grade of the school. He worked as a shepherd on the farm.

In May 1939, the Nevinnomyssk military enlistment office of the Ordzhonikidze region was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army . Since June 22, 1941 on the fronts of World War II .

In the battle for the city of Pascani in Romania on April 26, 1944, when the enemy launched a powerful counterattack with the support and under the guise of artillery fire, the guard sergeant Nikolenko, ignoring the explosions of enemy shells, fired at the enemy with his calculation. When the tanks reached the battery, threatening to destroy it, Nikolenko, already wounded, fired several more shots at them and only on the orders of the commander changed the firing position and continued the battle. In this battle, he knocked out one enemy tank, burned one car and destroyed 20 enemy soldiers. By order of the 42nd Guards Rifle Division of August 1, 1944, he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.

On August 19, 1944, while conducting artillery training in the vicinity of the village of Boanen (30 km south-west of the city of Pashkani ), the guard Sergeant Sergeant Nikolenko managed to organize the calculation work and destroy 35 enemy soldiers, crush 2 machine gun points and disperse the enemy soldiers to the company. By order of the 91st Guards Artillery Regiment of August 24, 1944, he was awarded the Medal For Courage .

In difficult conditions of the mountainous and wooded area of ​​the Carpathians of the Guard, the foreman Nikolenko supported the actions of the rifle units with fire of his guns in battles, ensuring their forward movement. September 3, 1944 in a battle near the village of Bistricioara east of the city of Toplitz with continuous fire of his guns, he destroyed 40 enemy soldiers and officers, 3 machine gun points, suppressed the fire of the artillery and mortar battery of the enemy. By order of the 40th Army of November 29, 1944, he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.

In a battle in the area of ​​the village of Gura Vadului on September 7, 1944, the foreman Nikolenko destroyed 10 carts of ammunition, 2 machine guns, 35 soldiers and officers of the enemy, an artillery battery and ammunition depot with the fire of his guns. In addition, Nikolenko participated in repelling 2 enemy counterattacks, as a result of which the enemy’s resistance was broken. By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 17, 1945, he was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree.

Guard Sergeant Major Nikolenko was demobilized in 1945. He lived on the Privolny farm in the Kochubeyevsky district . He worked as a shepherd at the Kochubeyevsky state farm.

In 1985, in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Victory, he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree .

Vasily Petrovich Nikolenko died on April 18, 1986.
