Azamat Normanov ( May 18, 1967 - November 30, 2015 ) - Russian athlete , president of the Saratov Regional Karate Federation. He was a member of the coaches of the Russian national karate team, and since 2013 he was president of the Saratov Regional Sports Federation of Karate . Biography
Born in the Baysun district of Surkhandarya region, Republic of Uzbekistan . In 1991 he graduated from the Saratov Pedagogical Institute . In the same year, he began work as a teacher of physical education at the Saratov Pedagogical College, where he worked until 1999 . Supervised After he began independent coaching, combining it with the leadership of the sports club in karate "Olympus-99" [1] . In 2003, he began working at the State institution of supplementary education "Center for Combat Sports" SP ", which was later renamed the Saratov Regional Children and Youth Sports School in Combat Sports named after S. R. Akhmerov, where he worked as a trainer and teacher in karate [1] .

| Much depends on the sensei - mentor. Throughout the history of our school, there have been no complaints about my children. On the contrary, they are trying to get away from direct conflict, because not only physically, but also morally stronger than many. For them, karate is first of all sports, victories should be on the tatami - beautiful and technical, and street fights discredit the athlete. But at the same time, I believe that the boy should not give himself insult and not indifferently look at how the weak are offended. I'm not used to dividing children into friends and foes. I would like our whole people to lead a healthy lifestyle, go in for sports, not abuse alcohol and tobacco, and better raise children. The organization of mass competitions allows to attract the younger generation to sport [2] . |
Murder
On the evening of November 30, 2015, the 45-year-old Rasim Karimov, the father of one of the pupils of the sports section, went into the gym where the children’s karate class was held and opened fire with a Makarov pistol [3] . As a result of the shooting, Azamat Normanov died on the spot, two more men (Azamat’s cousin and cousins) were injured. Leaving the premises of the sports school, Karimov went to the nearest police department and surrendered [4] .
According to the investigation, Karimov and Normanov had a conflict: the man believed that the coach was biased towards his daughter [5] . In 2016, Karimov was convicted of the murder of Normanov and other crimes, and sentenced to 24 years in prison [6] .
Reaction
Elena Mizulina called on the investigation to thoroughly examine the circumstances of the case:
| How was an armed man allowed into the gym territory, was the children's sports school protected at all, who is responsible for guarding this facility? Unfortunately, the presence of a security guard at the entrance often does not provide the proper level of security where necessary. Is there really to be a tragedy for the guards and authorities to start doing their job? It is terrifying that due to the indifference and incompetence of individuals, a person was killed and children could suffer [7] . |
