History
The canton was formed as a result of the 2015 reform [1] by combining the cantons of Berne West , Berne Est and Bomenil .
January 1, 2016 there are sixteen communes: Aguou , Bomenil , Bosque Renu-en-Ush , Granschen , Gutières , Gisse-la-Coudre , Joncre-de-Livé , La Barr-en-Ush , La-Rusier , Landeperoise , Saint Pierre du Menil , Saint-Marguerite-en-Ush , Saint-Aubin-de-Eix , Saint-Aubin-le-Guichard , Tevray and Épinay merged into a new commune - Menil-en-Ush .
On January 1, 2017, the commune of Carzie, together with the three communes of the canton of Brionne, entered the new commune of Nassander-sur-Ril .

Policy
In the 2017 presidential election, the canton residents cast in the 1st round of Marine Le Pen 27.2% of the vote against 22.3% of Francois Fillon , 20.8% of Emmanuel Macron and 15.2% of Jean-Luc Melanshon ; in the 2nd round, Macron won the canton, receiving 56.8% of the vote. (2012 1st round: Nicolas Sarkozy - 29.1%, Francois Hollande - 25.6%, Marine Le Pen - 20.6%; 2nd round: Sarkozy - 51.9%. 2007 1st round: Sarkozy - 29.0%, Segolen Royal - 21.8%; Round 2: Sarkozy - 55.3%).
Since 2015, the canton has been represented on the Council of the Air Department by members of the Berne City Council: Mayor Jean-Hugues Bonamy ( Union of Democrats and Independents ) and Valerie Branlot ( Miscellaneous Rights ).
