The first book in this series was MS-Dos for Dummies ( MS-DOS for Dummies), published in the USA in 1991 . Further books of this series were developed, specializing in computer themes, and afterwards on leisure themes and others. The series was originally published by IDG Books / Hungry Minds before buying it in 2001 by the publishing company John Wiley & Sons. The series is also published in other languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Greek, and others.
From the very beginning, the books of this series were distinguished by simple and accessible language, the absence of “extra details”, the abundance of special pictograms and other means of orientation in the material of the book, a significant amount of humor and jokes.
