Biography

Born on April 17 ( April 30 ), 1892 in Mariupol (now Donetsk Oblast , Ukraine ). In 1916 he graduated from Kiev University . Since 1918, he worked in the clinic of this university under the guidance of F. G. Yanovsky , who was a teacher of Vadim Nikolaevich. In 1934-1941 he headed the department of faculty therapy of the 2nd Kiev Medical Institute. He worked as the head of the department of therapy at the sanitary-hygienic faculty of the KMI (1944-1951), and also held the post of head of the department of therapy at the Kiev Dental Institute (1945-1948). He headed the hospital (1951-1958) and faculty (1958-1962) therapeutic departments of the KMI , at the same time since 1953 he was the head of the department of clinical physiology of the Institute of Physiology of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR .

Doctors' Case

In the early 1950s, the Doctors' Case was opened when a number of prominent doctors were under investigation. The repressive bodies suggested that Vadim Nikolaevich sign an opinion on the “criminal activity” of the accused. In order not to sign this conclusion, Vadim Ivanov staged a heart disease (his heart was really mischievous). Vadim Ivanov did not sign this conclusion.

Death

He died on January 15, 1962 . He was buried in Kiev at the Baykovsky cemetery [1] .

Perpetuation of memory

  • The therapeutic clinic of the Republican Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine was named after V.N. Ivanov.

Scientific work

The main scientific works are devoted to the problems of physiology and pathology of the digestive system. Vadim Ivanov wrote a lot of scientific works, of which some are devoted to the clinic and diagnosis of lung and stomach cancer.

  • He developed a clinical and physiological direction in medicine.
  • One of the first in the USSR to develop problems of gastrography .

Awards and Prizes

  • Stalin Prize of the second degree (1951) - for the development of a new design of a tomofluorograph, an apparatus for diagnosing diseases of internal organs.
  • Honored Worker of Science of the Ukrainian SSR (1946)
