Geography
Beilun is located in the east of the city and borders the Zhenhai district in the northwest (along the Yon River) and the Yinzhou region in the southwest. In the west, the Yong River flows; in the east, the area is washed by the East China Sea. In the east, there are two large islands, Waishenma and Meishan, and there are also several small ones.
There are no subway stations in Beilun.
Beilun was originally a fishing village. Due to the deep-water area off the coast of Beilun (depth 17 m), the Chinese Government decided to build a large deep-water port here. Beilun Seaport is one of the five structural divisions of one of China's largest ports, Ningbo — Zhoushan . In addition to the port, the area has a free trade zone and a power station ( Guodian Beilun Power Station ).
