Club career
Penilla is a student of the ESPOLI club. On February 6, 2010, in his match against Olmedo , he made his debut in the Ecuadorian Example [2] . On March 6, in a fight against Manta , Christian scored his first goal for ESPOLI [3] . In 2011, he helped the team win the championship. In early 2012, Penilla moved to Deportivo Quito . On February 11, in a match against Manta, he made his debut for a team from Quito [4] . On November 29, Christian scored his first goal for Deportivo in a duel against Emelek [5] .
At the beginning of 2013 in Penilla he moved to Barcelona from Guayaquil . On January 26, in his match against Deportivo Quevedo , he made his debut for a new team, replacing Michael Arroyo in the second half [6] . On March 31, Christian scored his first goal for a club from Guayaquil in a duel against Deportivo Cuenca [7] . In 2014, Penilla helped Barcelona win the silver of the championship.
In early 2015, Christian moved to the Mexican Pachuca . On January 18, in a match against Monterrey , he made his debut in the Mexican Example [8] . On April 12, in a duel against UNAM, Pumas Penilla scored his first goal for Pachuca [9] .
International Career
In 2011, Christian won a bronze medal at the South American Youth Championship in Peru . In the tournament, he played in matches against the teams of Paraguay [10] , Brazil [11] and twice against Colombia [12] .
On October 11, 2014, in a friendly match against the US national team, Penilla made his debut for the Ecuadorian national team [13] . On October 15 of that year, he scored his first goal against the national team of Salvador for the national team [14] .
