Biography

Born in St. Petersburg in the family of a Russian diplomat Ivan Ivanovich von Bock, a graduate of St. Peter’s Main German School in 1899 and the Imperial University of St. Petersburg in 1903, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Empire , since 1912 - mission secretary in the Vatican , in 1916-1917 - the charge d'affaires of this mission.

After 1917, he stayed in Italy , was chairman of the Committee for Assistance to Russian Refugees, from 1924 he lived in Paris , in 1925 he converted to Catholicism , in 1931 he moved to Japan , he taught at Takaoka University, from 1943 he lived in Kobe . Widowed, in 1945 he entered the Jesuits Order .

In 1948, he was ordained a priest , was appointed abbot of the Russian Catholic parish of Our Lady of Fatima in California , and later worked at the Vladimir Solovyov Russian Center at Fordham University in New York (Russian Center Fordham University. New York, 58).

In 1950 he participated in the Congress of the Russian Catholic clergy in Rome .
