Conference of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) at the Astronomical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences , Prague, 2006.
A scientific conference is an organization of scientific activity in which researchers (not necessarily scientists or students ) present and discuss their work. Usually in advance (in a newsletter or poster announcement) the topic, time and place of the conference are reported. Then begins the collection of abstracts and sometimes organizational dues. By its status, a scientific conference occupies an intermediate position between a scientific seminar and a congress.
