History

The club was officially founded on November 1, 1908, although the first mention of the team was on May 25, 1903. In the 1920s, “Hurricane” was one of the strongest clubs in Argentina, four times becoming the champion of the country. However, in 1931, professionalism was introduced in Argentina and former championships were no longer considered.

The team won the only Argentine champion title in the professional era in 1973 (Metropolitan) under the leadership of César Menotti . In the next Libertadores Cup draw, the team reached the semifinals.

In 1990 and 2000, the club became the champion in the Second Division.

In 2014, “Hurricane” under the leadership of Nestor Apusso won the Argentina Cup, having received a ticket to the Libertadores Cup 2015 . In that season, the team played only in the Second Division and, following its results, “Hurricane” took fifth place, but scored the same number of points with “ Atletico Tucuman ”. In a butt match with this team, El-Globo managed to win in extra time with a score of 4: 1 [3] and return to the elite division of the championship of Argentina.

In 2015, Hurricane returned to the Copa Libertadores. At the preliminary stage, “Hurricane” easily beat the Peruvian “Alliance” , but could not leave the group, taking only third place. In addition, Hurricane beat the country's champion, River Plate, in the match for the Argentine Super Cup, winning a ticket to the 2015 South American Cup . In the championship of Argentina 2015, the team performed unsuccessfully, taking a place at the bottom of the standings. However, the “ball” managed to reach the semi-finals of the UAC-2015. Since River Plate, the winner of the Libertadores Cup 2015 , became the other Argentinean team to reach this stage, Huracan received a ticket to the Libertadores Cup 2016 as the best Argentinean team in the second most important continental tournament, regardless of the outcome of the semifinal with River ".

The biggest rival of Huracan is San Lorenzo de Almagro .

Also, “Huracan” is considered the “gravedigger” of Argentinean giants, at the most inopportune moments for them beating them. A “Uracan” is a particularly uncomfortable rival for the “ River Plate ” - several times in the history of losses or loss of points in the decisive stages of the Argentina championship from the “Huracan” did not allow the “River” to become the country's champion.
