Biography
Coming from the family of the Greek emigrant Manganari .
He was promoted to midshipmen on October 1, 1815; February 9, 1818 became midshipman . From 1822 to 1825 he was in the Danube Flotilla at the fortress of Ishmael; April 21, 1824 promoted to lieutenant. Then he served on the frigate "Evstafy" and, from June 1828, on the battleship "Chesma" . In 1829, he participated in the capture of the cities of Inada and Medes, and in 1830, in the squadron of Rear Admiral M. N. Kumani sailed on this ship with landing troops from Rumelia to the Black Sea ports.
In the years 1832-1833 sailed on the transport "Whale", carrying cargo between Sevastopol and Nikolayev, and then returned to the "Chesma". In 1834 he was transferred to the frigate "Anna" and on December 6, 1834, for distinction, he was promoted to lieutenant commander.
In 1840, I.P. Mangari was appointed to command the Berezan transport, which in 1840 transported airborne troops and cargo from Sevastopol to the eastern shores of the Black Sea. Seven years remained the commander of this transport; April 11, 1843 was promoted to captain of rank 2; in 1844 he was awarded the Order of St. Stanislav 3rd degree; January 1, 1847 for 25 years of service in the officer ranks, was awarded the Order of St. George 4th class; March 2, 1847 promoted to captain of the 1st rank.
November 26, 1847 Ivan Pavlovich Manganari was appointed manager of the Kherson port and developed one of the largest ports of the Russian Empire for eight years. He was appointed commander of the 15th working crew of the Black Sea Fleet in the port of Nikolaev , renamed Colonels, on May 4, 1855. Two years later, on November 11, 1857, for health reasons, he was dismissed from service with production to major generals.
Family
Wife, Marina Ivanovna. They had three children: Nikolay, Alexandra and Victor. Grandson, Alexander Viktorovich Manganari was a talented engraver, painter, decorator and teacher. Early fame and popularity in art circles, he brought the painting "The Bell Tower of St. George Monastery" (1908), "Perunov Island" (1909), "Mr. Novgorod the Great" (1913).
