Honorary titles of Azerbaijan

In Soviet Azerbaijan, along with honorary titles of the all-Union scale in the republic, there were honorary titles belonging to different areas. By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Azerbaijan SSR of March 16, 1978, 48 honorary titles were established, of which 10 existed only in the Azerbaijan SSR. In 1928-1985, the honorary titles were established:

Also, an honorary title was the inclusion in the Republican national book of honor, established on November 19, 1962. After 1980, new honorary titles were also established: honored power engineer, honored propagandist, honored worker of transport, honored worker of the university, honored conservationist, and others.

Awarded with honorary titles was awarded the "Badge of Honor of the Azerbaijan SSR".

After the declaration of independence of Azerbaijan , not a single special legal document regarding honorary titles was adopted. Despite this, in 1991-1993 the assignment of honorary titles of the Soviet period continued. From 1993 to 1998, honorary titles were not awarded.

According to the Law on Honorary Titles of the Republic of Azerbaijan adopted on May 22, 1998 for outstanding achievements and exceptional services in the fields of culture, literature, science, education, healthcare, physical education and sports, journalism, engineering, public service and law, economics and medicine, The honorary titles of the Republic of Azerbaijan were determined ^[1] .

Given the merits of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan awarded state awards of the former USSR and Azerbaijan SSR , they retain the rights and obligations stipulated by the legislation of the former USSR and Azerbaijan SSR on awards. Today there are 19 honorary titles of the republic:
