Biography
Born in the family of the famous Finnish politician Otto Kuusinen and Saima-Paulina Dalström. In 1930-1934 (with a break in 1932-1933), a student of the International Leninist School at the Comintern . In 1934-1939 she was in prison, in 1941-1944 in a concentration camp. Since 1939, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Finland , and since 1944 - a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Finland. She was honorary chairman of the Communist Party of Finland.
Since 1945, deputy of the Finnish parliament , chairman of the parliamentary faction of the Democratic Union of the People of Finland . In 1948, she entered the government of Mauno Pekkala as a minister without a portfolio. In 1951-1958 - the Secretary General, in 1958-1969 - the Vice-Chairman, and in 1969-1974 - the Chairman of the International Democratic Federation of Women .
