Description
The village was located on the left bank of the Uperta River. It was part of Krapivensky district. The settlement was formed no later than the second half of the XVII century and received its current name from the names of the owners of the Khilkovs , whose lands were in the Tula and Oryol provinces. The village used to be called Bolotnoye (along the “Bolotnoye” well on the edge of the village, from which a stream flowed into Upertu) and another name Znamenskoye (through the church in the name of the Lord’s Entrance to Jerusalem). The parish consisted of the village itself, the village of Surov and the village of Kolychevsky Settlements (Kolychevo). Back in the XVIII century in Khilkovo there were up to 600 yards. Subsequently, the landowners settled the peasants on their other estates. [1] In 1857, there were 185 people in the village [2] , and in 1915 - 278 people and 35 yards. There was a parish school. [3]
