Geography

The village is located 40 km southwest of Polotsk . The village stands on the isthmus between two lakes: Bobyno and Nesito . The Vetrino - Ushachi highway passes through Bobynichi; other local roads connect Bobynichi with the surrounding villages. The nearest railway station is in the village of Kulgai, 7 km to the north-west (line Polotsk - Molodechno ). In the village there are: a post office (211433), a branch of Belarusbank OJSC, automatic telephone exchange, FAP, a kindergarten-school complex, a school museum, a club library, a store, a forestry, a farm, and the Gaststynny Dvor farmstead (on Bobyn Lake). A memorial sign in memory of 108 Jews of the Bobynich ghetto executed by fascists. The St. Nicholas Church (brick) is operating. Mass grave of Soviet soldiers, Jewish cemetery [2] .

The first mention in the sources refers to the second half of the 16th century, when it belonged to the Korsakov family. In the XVII century, the settlement received the status of a small town [3] .

As a result of the second division of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (1793), Bobynichi became part of the Russian Empire, where they became the center of the volost of Lepel district of the Vitebsk province . At the beginning of the 20th century there was a place Bobynichi, Bobynichi-Yurovschina estate (70 houses, owned by V. Korsak), Bobobinichi-Wovel farm (owned by A. Tomashevich), town, and then the Ugly-Bobynichi estate (Angles Bobynichi, possession F. Rusetskogo) [3] . During this period, the majority of the population of the town were Jews [4] .

In 1930, the first chairman of the collective farm M. Myaleshko was killed.

From 1919 to 1924, Bobynichi was part of the RSFSR , from 1924 - in the BSSR . Bobynichy became the center of the village council of the Vetrinsky district , after its abolition in 1960 - in the Polotsk region.

During the Great Patriotic War, Bobynichi was occupied by the Nazis, the Bobynich ghetto was created here , where the Jewish population was executed. A total of 108 Jews were killed in the ghetto [5] . During the war, 26 courtyards with 112 residents were burned. Until the 1990s - the center of the collective farm named after M. Meleshko, then until 2007 the SEC "Meleshko" (merged in 2007 with OAO "Bliznitsa"). In 2009, together with the village of Dretun, the first tourist village in Belarus. Since 2009, the festival "Babynitsky Festival" has been held [2] .
