The Sign of Venus ( Italian: Il segno di Venere ) is an Italian comedy film from 1955 directed by Dino Risi . The plot of the picture is built around a young girl in search of the perfect man. A strong cast gathered in the film - the main roles were played by Italian movie stars Sophia Loren , Alberto Sordi , Raf Vallone , Vittorio De Sica , which was joined by the famous stand-up artist Frank Valerie , who also had a hand in the script of the picture [1] . The film participated in the competition program of the 8th Cannes Film Festival [2] .

Story
The young and unattractive provincial Cesira lives with her cousin, the beautiful Agnes, and works as a typist. Both girls dream of getting married. One day, Pina's fortune-teller neighbor tells Cesira that she is under the sign of Venus, which promises her a quick meeting with her betrothed. Indeed, three men soon appear in the girl’s life. First, she meets Romolo, a smug car thief, who in fact turns out to be a sissy. Following Chazira meets an elderly poet-gigolo, who leaves courtship for the girl, switching to the same fortuneteller. And finally, the handsome Ignazio becomes the third, but he falls in love with cousin Agnes, who reciprocates with him. At the end of the film, Agnes and Ignazio are expecting a baby, and Cezira is still alone.
