G. A. Rachinsky is a cousin of S. A. Rachinsky , a professor of botany who became a rural teacher. Their grandfather was Privy Councilor A. M. Rachinsky .

Biography
He graduated from Imperial Moscow University ( Department of History and Philology [2] ).
He collaborated in the magazines Russian Thought , Questions of Philosophy and Psychology , and Northern Lights . He was the editor of the philosophical publishing house "Path", chairman of the Society of Free Aesthetics. Translated by F. Nietzsche and was the editor and author of the preface of his collected works; wrote a study The Tragedy of Nietzsche (M .: Tipo-lit. t-va I.N. Kushnerev and Co. °, 1900). Translator of Maupassant , Kleist , Balzac , Goethe . He was also the editor of the last 3 volumes of the collected works of V. S. Solovyov and his other works (in particular: The Russian Idea and Vladimir the Holy and Christian State ). He translated the work of Victor Tissot, "Prussian Secret Police" (Moscow: Moscow. Prince-1950. - 335 p.).
Rachinsky was associated with the circle of Moscow Symbolists , especially with Andrei Bely , and presided over the Society of Free Aesthetics. And Bely wrote:

Musaget publishing house published his study "Japanese Poetry" (1914).
In 1919 he was arrested as a participant and one of the organizers of the “Union of the United Parishes of Moscow,” a member of the executive committee of the Union Council. Since March 2, 1889, he was married to Tatyana Anatolyevna Mamontova (1864-1920), the daughter of the publisher A. I. Mamontov .
Among his literary translations: “ Marquise d'O ” (Kleist); “Bombar”, “Institution of Tellier”, “Weepers”, “Girlfriend of the Field”, “Spring” (Maupassant), “Carmen” (the novel by Prosper Merime ) and others.
