Daniel Louis Castellaneta ( Eng. Daniel Louis Castellaneta ; born October 29, 1957 , Oak Park , Illinois ) is an American actor best known for his work on the Simpsons , where he voiced Homer Simpson , the worm Jim in the eponymous animated series, as well as a number of other characters.

Biography
Castellaneta was born in Oak Park , a suburb of Chicago , graduated from high school and enrolled at Northern Illinois University . Studying at school, he played for the school baseball team. Years later, assistant coach Dick Trout recalled: "Dan was a funny guy, but he threw the ball like a girl." After graduating from university, he began working in one of the Chicago actors' groups, which he later described as "such a place that if you are not having fun there, he will quickly show how fun it is to leave."
He married the writer Debe Lakuste, who later co-authored several episodes of the show. Lives in Los Angeles .
Unlike his character, he was a vegetarian and often played sports.
