The 2006 European Curling Championship for Mixed Teams was held in Klaut ( Italy ) from October 17 to October 21, 2006 . It was the 2nd European Championship in this kind of competition.

The tournament was attended by 23 national teams of mixed teams (composed of two men and two women). The champion was (1st time in its history) the national team of Scotland , which won the Italian national team in the final. Bronze medals were won by the Russian national team , which won the match for the 3rd place against Sweden [1] .
For the first time, teams from Austria , Kazakhstan and Lithuania took part in the championship.

Event Format
Teams are divided into 4 groups (A, B, C, D) of 6 teams (in group D - 5 teams), where they play each other in a circular system in one circle. Then, the 8 best teams (2 best teams in the group) go to the playoffs , where they play according to the Olympic system in the quarter-finals and semi-finals; the winners of the semi-finals in the finals play the 1st and 2nd places, the losers in the semi-finals play the 3rd and 4th places.

First met teams of Germany and Ireland. In the 2nd round, the winner met with the national team of Latvia. The winner of the 2nd round went into the playoffs from 2nd place in the group.
